What's new
I have said before:
ZN1 with IC 151 and 152 fitted (if missing can be upgraded...)
Is the desired setup. ZN2 should boot on ZN1 but i can't work out what stops the action.

Cool - thanks for clarifying. I realize I got confused and thought a ZN2 supporting QSound was needed for some of the games from the comments on the other thread here:

But that’s just for getting TGM working with full audio, right?

ZN2 mobo is used with G-Net and "Capcom ZN2" Games
ZN1 mobo is used with everything else, including "Capcom ZN1" Games.
All games have unique extra sound hardware or other extra hardware on the ROM board except for Tecmo TPS and Aero Fighters.

The capcom rom board can run ZN1 or ZN2 games but as of the moment you need the relevant motherboard.
The mod bios allows any top board to work with any mother regardless of make.
The ZN1 / ZN2 lockout will be found in time for sure.

The problem is , when attempting to run ZN1 on ZN2 or vice versa it will "brick" the board for about 10 mins slowing down testing significantly. The mod bios loads ZN1 on ZN2 no problems in MAME.

Someone will either find it or spill the beans soon enough i'm sure.
Nobody's given any of this info before so i doubt it will be the latter but we know what always happens we will win in the end.

I guess it's something related to the library programs on the "game side" but time will tell :P

I asked @Darksoft about the q sound schematics, i need those to advance with the capcom CPS2-B chip. The capcom games are a must if it's multi.
My only poor q sound board is stuck in the USA at the moment so until those schematics arrive or i arrange that board back there's not much gonna happen on the capcom side.

This thing will need also the SD loader way due to the number of games and size of them (we are getting into realms of 118 eproms worth titles don't forget)
Plus they need all testing alone to know what is and not going to work.

We just put in an order for more blanks, maybe judge dredd and something else will run on a stack of 8 rom boards and 1fb00000 - 1fb00006 just need to make a bank latch.

Until then i'm stuck on the ZN1 / ZN2 lockout. I confirmed today it's NOT jumper related. The dino's are not extinct either!

I'll be happy to help if @Hammy needs help making a multi.

We did speak about this!
CPS2-B needs done, after that if you wish to provide the SD cart loader for it that would be cool. The games are larger than average CPS2 or MVS now and new additions only set to get more insane.

The lockout needs investigating but needs real hardware.... or a SUPER keen eye on jorg's hacked up Gnet library / the PSX mod ver.

Few hard drive based to try and get running and that's about it. Until the lockout is worked i'm stuck on ROM boards so can't use Gnet. (plus that needs re-writing with new info and more freedom)
In the last 24 hours 2 of the hard disk based games jumped from 15% progress to 35% progress , the mad 118 eprom stack + some extra latches + re-used aero fighters " bank lap " technology along with updating the games to load from rom.

Hey @Hammy !!

Wanted to see if you'd PM me, about getting bios/rom board and the costs.

Also, I spoke with Raymond/Channelmanic/Channelmaniac/arcadecomponents.com about getting in the IC151/2-KM4132g271 rams and he is getting a stock in that will be available in the US for individual sale, or for installation service, for those that need them.

He did point out that it seemed R113, R151, and I think C151 and 152(not sure on this one...I may have written it down wrong), would need to be populated for those missing IC151, and I wanted to run that by you, to see if you had any extra input.
The board we were looking at was a Capcom Battle Toshinden 2 (ZN1).

Looking forward to hopefully being able to help a few folks out with these moving forward, and to seeing the next bit of progress.

Correct

None in stock (and it's still in development..)

ZN2 running on ZN1 sounds better , idiots are overrating that ZN2 motherboard for a long time.
Understood!

Thanks for the confirmation/reply.

Bios board V2 won't be long, hopefully gets the setup down to 3 wires.
It's come a long way since the 1st 120 (or more) wires psychic force video!

I expect the bios <and bios board> to have many more rev's.

The next hurdle is adding 2 racks (instead of the 8 needed) getting this working with the bank lap loader and giving the next bump in rom space.
After this the final design will begin.

Bios V2 ... :D
256 at the moment, we may go for 1m , chip size bump to 27c322 to fit the acclaim, atlus and atari decrypted bios (along with the tecmo, capcom, raizing and taito from before).

Thanks again to @caius for spinning up the board and helping with this madness!

V1 is still fine, the testers don't need to worry about re-doing the boards, the V1 has it's own pro's over the V2 such as smaller size, no 3.3v to go wrong etc.

Thanks y'all :)

36 RAMs arrived today. I look forward to seeing the finished setup!

Things are looking up! Took early retirement from Cisco back in October, got both vaccine shots, and my first day going back to work at a security startup is Monday. :D

Hope all is well with you!

Those ram are also good for the namco boards system 11 / 12 they do die normally of rust / leg rot.

The other ram that may be needed is much harder to find: KM48V2104AT
8 is needed for the work ram, Mr Guru says there's no change to resistors / caps for that one but i'm still skeptical.
I would not worry about the work ram upgrade until PR2 is loading up to some extent in real hardware....
