Hello,

Does anybody here owns one of these cabinets (like the red or the greem one) ? Not the chilean clone, but the original (AFAIK) Taito cabinet. I'd like to ask a couple of question about this kind of cab.

Thanks.

Those are Dagashiya cabinets. https://forums.arcade-museum.com/media/albums/japanese-mini-arcade-candy-dagashiya-cabinet.1908/

Precursor to metal based cabinets for Japan. Manufactured in the "golden age" of arcade games as we know it here, between 1978-1984. There are a few notable examples of these cabinets being manufactured by prominent companies (SNK, Taito, IREM, etc.). Many clones were made during that time so its difficult to determine authenticity.

These are specifically tailored for children and small areas. Japan's equivalent to the North America's Cabaret Cabinet. Japan's digital arcade era (commonly known in Japan as the [space] Invader era) was mostly booming in bars and more adult parlors where children were prohibited or discouraged from going to. These cabs were marketed as being for children targeting the Dagashiya (literal translation is 'cheap sweets') which are small candy and snack shops that were commonly booming with kids. Dagashiya cabinets are literally the original Candy Cab.
