Final Fight sprite issue

Hello! Working on fixing up a Final Fight CPS1 board. Right now it turns on but only the white sprites/text appear. I can pick a character and the game will start but freeze on the first screen. I've tried pulling the EPROMs and writing new ones but have not had luck but I have a feeling that I'm writing the wrong ROMs (was using the MAME rom set). Are CPS1 roms typically encrypted?

Any advice or assistance or "well there's your problem"-ing would be greatly appreciated!

If you could share some screenshots of what you're seeing, that would be helpful.

Many CPS1 mainboards fail due to the custom CPS-A-01 chip going bad. Do you have another CPS1 mainboard you can test your ROM board against? That would let you narrow down whether your problem is with the main board or ROM board.
