Cv1000-D has this chip too. Its at U10 which I think all cv1k-d games populate. They dont however have battery backup for the rtc, so they just have access to the eeprom part of it, and I guess the RTC will be reset each boot.

Nha, its a separate debugging connector that has adress/data lines and stuff like that. It has no use for anything relevant for gameplay or jtag purposes.

It's a bit complicated imo, but the tl;dr for me is that I think these bootlegs are awesome. My understanding is that there is potential for sprite glitching, since the type of issue seen in that MBL can happen if you just take the raw rom from mame and write that to a compatible NAND Flash...

Yeah if its busted in mame as well then it could also be the dump having a block gone bad prior to dumping My guess though is that its just the conversion not caring about factory bad blocks of the ic being written to.

That glitch is almost 100% due to programming the graphics rom without adjusting for factory bad blocks on the nand programmed. Should be fixable with jtag Its an easy mistake to make. See...

I've done it, with the wrong screwdriver and definitely stripped some screws slightly... but I mean it worked. But yeah, recommend getting the correct driver. Once you do that, it's really not complicated.

I spent a lot of time looking at the timing for emulation purposes, see https://buffis.com/research/cv1000-blitter-research/ and some later posts in that blog. For actual blitter ops and vram behavior, you can look at the mame source. No way Mister can handle it btw
